中文摘要：近几年来，电影作为一种文化交流形式因其表达形式多样，兼具画面美感和故事情节，而受到广泛关注。电影片名更是电影精髓的浓缩，具有概括电影内容、吸引观众眼球以提升票房的功能。电影片名不仅仅是一种艺术表达形式，更是电影的灵魂。因此对于英文电影来说，片名的翻译就显得尤为重要。但由于大陆和港台的文化背景不同，在电影片名的翻译上存有差异。本文从大陆、香港及台湾三地对英文电影片名的翻译方法入手，辅以实例，对其进行对比，并简单分析差异产生的原因。首先，本文将从英文电影片名的基本类型入手，结合实例，阐述英文电影片名分类；其次，从美感功能、信息功能和祈使功能三方面对英文电影片名的翻译特点进行说明；最后，通过对比大陆、香港及台湾三地对同一英文电影片名的不同翻译，找出大陆、香港及台湾三地译本间的异同，就英语电影片名的有效翻译给出建议。
