Abstract
The Great Gatsby is the immortal act of the famous American novelist Fitzgerald，the novel tells us a sad story that humble young man Jay Gatsby accumulates wealth at all costs for the pursuit of wealthy girl Daisy, and finally ended in failure.Many critics think the disillusion of Gatsby’s dream is also the disillusion of the American Dream, so based on this novel, the author makes an brief analysis of the American Dream in this paper, through three aspects:introduction of the American Dream、the disillusionment of the American Dream and the significance of the American Dream. The author carefully analyzes the process of the American Dream from generation to burst、the reason for the disillusion and the inspiration from the American Dream.
