Abstract: The paper aims at studying the application of metaphor on business English writing, guiding that business personnel use metaphors in business writing skillfully, improving business communication skills, and conveying information and the desired business objective accurately and effectively. Besides, teachers may also learn that pay more attention on cultivating students’ awareness of metaphor, improving students’ identification and ability in using metaphor in English writing. Through literature survey and study of definition, function and classification of metaphor and characteristic of business English, we recognize that metaphor is no substitute and we also learn some skills of application of metaphor in business English.
