Abstract
Business English is playing an increasingly important role in the booming global trade and business activities. As the property of business English, pragmatic strategies contribute to smooth business activities. This paper analyzes the application of pragmatic strategies to business negotiations, in order that business activities can be more appropriately conducted in the future .In the early stage of the study, by reading literature and text analysis, the author collected many predecessors’ opinion studied and discussed in previous writing and got familiar with the topic. In the paper, the author firstly gives the definition of pragmatic strategy, secondly elaborates the pragmatic strategies including Cooperative Principle,Verbal Behavior, Politeness Principle and analyzes the application of the above strategies to business negotiation by using specific examples at last. If knowing how to properly use pragmatic strategies and make every effort to avoid their negative effect, business negotiation can be smoothly and efficiently regulated.
