Abstract:As the increasing speed of development of economy, the external trade for domestic enterprises extends more frequently than ever before. Along with the development, negotiating with business English plays an important role. In the process of international business negotiation, due to the different cultures and circumstances, people can not express certain things clearly in direct way when they come across something unpleasant and embarrassing. Instead, they have to use some implicit, mild and euphemistic expressions, so as to achieve the purpose of expressing feeling and exchanging ideas and thoughts in an appropriate and light atmosphere. The paper firstly gives the definition and functions of euphemism and international business negotiation. It then points out the functions of useing euphemism in international business negotiation. And the difficulties the negotiator will meet when using euphemism in international business negotiation. By using a large number of examples in Chinese and western business negotiations, it finally focuses on how to use euphemism smoothly and successfully in the international business negotiation. Through analyzing the role of euphemism, the negotiator can improve the efficiency of the negotiation, and get the “win-win” outcome.
摘要:随着经济的发展,国内企业的外部贸易比以往任何时候扩展得更频繁,商务英语谈判扮演了一个重要的角色,在国际商务谈判的过程中,由于不同的文化和背景,当人们遇到某些不愉快和尴尬的事情,无法用直接的方式表达清楚时,他们必须使用一些隐含、温和、委婉的表达,从而达到了在适当缓和的气氛中交换意见和想法的目的。本文首先给出了委婉语和国际商务谈判的定义、作用。然后,分析在国际商务谈判中使用委婉语的原因、阐述了国际谈判中使用委婉时会遇到的问题。最后通过使用大量中西商务谈判的实例,探讨如何恰当地使用委婉语,使国际商务谈判顺利、成功。旨在通过分析和研究委婉语的角色,提高谈判的效率,并使谈判双方获得“双赢”的结局。
