Abstract: This thesis aims at making a study of D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover from the perspective of eco-criticism. By embarking from the analysis of the theme, the environmental description and characterization, together with the content, this thesis further studies the natural eco-criticism, social eco-criticism and spiritual eco-criticism reflected in Lady Chatterley’s Lover, which indicates that it is industrial civilization that directly results in the deadly destruction of nature and human’s strong passion of control over nature. With deep devastation of nature, the industrial civilization finally causes human alienation both in human body and mind. Furthermore, upon the reflection on the relationship between civilization and ecosystem, this thesis concludes that the only way to restore human nature is to completely give up the industrial civilization and then go back to nature.
