Abstract: Children’s picture books play an important role for children’s growth, for they are the first books they read in their life. This kind of books didn’t spring up until 20th century. Recently, many translators in China have translated a great number of foreign children’s picture books. However, many of those need improved, mainly because of few studies about English-Chinese translation strategies of children’s picture books. This thesis focuses on English-Chinese translation strategies of children's picture books, like choosing simple and vivid words, keeping the balance between pictures and words in picture books, complying with children's cognitive level and taking cultural differences into consideration, aiming to provide reference for scholars who study on the English-Chinese translation strategies of children’s picture books.
