Abstract: The paper aims to show how Proximization Theory, a recent cognitive-pragmatic model, can be applied in Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The rapidly growing and intergeneric field of CDA is in need of new, interdisciplinary methodologies to account for an increasingly broader spectrum of discourses. Thus, Proximization Theory is used as a candidate methodological tool to handle the sample discourses--health and environment. The theory can elucidate well the key features of public discourses within the CDA scope, and thus accounts for the explanatory power of public space discourses.
