Abstract:Allan Poe is a famous American novelist, poet and critic in the 19th century. Black Cat is a short story written by Allan Poe, and also a classic of his horror novels. His unique gothic novels with mysterious and horrific colors also make great significance to the world . The black cat explores the darkness of human nature from the horror of the soul. As a pioneer of psychoanalytic novels, it produces a thrilling artistic effect. In the novel black cat, the author created a terror atmosphere through a variety of writing techniques, and cast a dark color on the whole work. This thesis mainly focuses on two writing techniques of Gothic and symbolism to explore the characteristics of this novel , with the aim of highlighting the horror atmosphere of literature. It is of great significance for scholars to understand Allan Poe's unique literary works, and scholars can better appreciate deep aesthetics implications.
