Abstract Jane Eyre, a masterpiece of the female writer Charlotte Brontë who lived in the 19th century, narrates a story of the heroine Jane Eyre finally attained her happiness after going through various tribulations due to her persistence to her own ideal and pursuit of liberty. Many biblical elements such as allusions can be found in this book. Therefore, this paper will, by conducting a comparative study, make a brief analysis on the biblical themes of “original sin and redemption” and “forgiveness and fraternity”, and then study the biblical prototypes of two roles in Jane Eyre—the heroine Jane Eyre and the minor role Helen. Finally, this paper concludes that the Bible has exerted great influence on Jane Eyre. To fully understand this volume, one needs to conduct a comparative study about its biblical influence.
