Abstract：As a basic meaningful unit in English, a foreign language, it is essential to master the vocabulary. Furthermore, basic vocabulary is easily found in the junior high English textbook Go For It! (Book 1) from which students can learn and remember a vast amount of vocabulary, especially nouns. To find simple but effective means for both teaching and learning vocabulary has become more important and necessary. By reviewing related input theories and the analysis of using pictures as a specific example of an effective way to teach English vocabulary in junior high school, this thesis was developed in the hope of offering some thoughts for all English teachers to explore a better way to teach.
