Abstract:With the developing of the foreign language learning, autonomy language learning becomes an important topic in this field. The thesis tentatively discusses the value of autonomous learning and developing strategies. At first, the thesis states the background, the definition, and the value of autonomy language learning. Then through a questionnaire and an interview survey of English-major students on their autonomous learning in our university, the thesis analyzes the students’ attitudes towards the autonomous learning. At last, according to the results of the study, the thesis puts forward a few tentative suggestions as to how to facilitate the development of LA in Chinese pedagogical context. With acquisition of these approaches, language learners can develop their capability of autonomous learning, self-management and lifelong learning. Teachers should transfer more power to students in classroom, and provide more room for student participants in language teaching.
