Abstract：Language is a tool to interact and communicate. However, during the author’s internship she found that most of junior school teachers used traditional teaching methods that lack interaction and communication between students and teachers. To improve students’ English proficiency, teachers should make students participate in the process of classroom teaching, pay more attention to the teaching content. Quite a few researches have been done in terms of applying group work in English teaching and various advantages of group work have been noted. It is an effective way to improve teaching efficiency by applying group work.
The researcher carried out this research on application of group work teaching strategy in English teaching through observation, interview inside classroom, case study and questionnaires, that is, to explore the real effect of group work teaching strategy. The result of this research shows that group work is really a more effective mode of classroom interaction, which can advance student’s motivation, cultivate student’s interest, resume student’s self-confidence and improve student’s achievement.
