Abstract：Evaluation is one of important and indispensable elements in the whole teaching and learning process. This paper is about the implementation of the formative evaluation in No.5 Middle School of Tengchong, and the subjects were the second-year junior students in this school. Connecting with the current practical situation of English teaching in this school, we used questionnaires and observation to carry out the research. The study found that, in this school’s English teaching, the implementation of formative assessment can cultivate and inspire the students’ motivation to learn English. The research results can provide a reference to the middle school teachers’ English teaching.
