Abstract：English writing is one of the four basic skills one should master in the course of learning English. It is one of the most practical tools in students’ future career. Besides, the development of society and the frequent contact among different countries require that students have a good English writing. However, it is found that students’ English writing is not so good, especially the students’ English writing in county middle schools. There are a lot of problems in their English writing. So, what are the problems of students’ writing? What are the common errors? Why do the students often commit such errors？Trying to answer these questions, the writer of this paper designs a questionnaire, chooses 60 first-year high school students as subjects to find out the common errors in the students’ English writing, and analyzes the causes of the errors. Meanwhile, some effective suggestions are put forward to help the teachers and students in English writing based on this study.
