Abstract: As aging of population of China accelerates and life expectancy of population extends, the government’s disbursement of annuity has risen sharply in recent years. In order to remit this pressure, governmental officials and experts successively state that it has been an inevitable trend to imitate western countries to implement postponed retirement policy. This attracts much attention from all sectors of the society. This thesis just starts with this and introduces current situations and existing problems of domestic retirement system firstly. After preliminary analysis about advantages and disadvantages brought by implementation of postponed retirement policy, it draws the conclusion that China should implement postponed retirement policy. Meanwhile, it proposes two optional reform schemes. Finally, on the premise that special national conditions of China have been analyzed, it concludes that China should introduce flexible retirement system with annuity reward mechanism based on postponed retirement and take a progressive reform mode in order to make retirement system of China adapt to increasingly serious aging of population, extension of people’s life expectancy and rapid development of social economy. At the same time, it discusses prospect of China’s implementation of postponed retirement policy and challenges it faces with, and summarizes three problems that Chinese government should pay much attention to in the process in which postponed retirement policy is carried out.
