Abstract:As is known to all, Chinese cuisine has enjoyed a high reputation throughout the world because of its unique tastes, distinctive cooking methods, and rich cultural connotations. However, considering their special language features and cultural connotations, inappropriate translation of CDN[ CDN是Chinese dish names的首字母缩略词] often leads to misunderstandings and puzzlement among foreign visitors. Therefore, it’s an urgent task for translators to explore feasible translation strategies of CDN. CDN translation has become a new field of translation study in recent years. The paper, based on the achievements of previous studies, takes skopos theory as the theoretical framework to analyze the language features of CDN and proposes some practical strategies of CDN translation including transliteration, literal translation, free translation, literal translation with explanation and so on with an aim at standardizing the translation of CDN and making a contribution to the spread of Chinese cuisine culture.
