Abstract:The public sign, as a kind of social language, is of much significance to our daily life. It plays the role of conducting people’s behaviors while the essential feature of this special language is its guidance and mobility. However, in China, there are still a large number of mistakes in C-E translation of public signs owing to lack of standardization, which have greatly affected the original functions of public signs.
With the instruction of Skopos theory, this paper is in order to analyze the reason for incorrect translation and then explore the most accurate and appropriate translation strategy and method for public sign C-E translation.
