Abstract

With the progress of times and the development of science and technology,intercultural communication is increasing day by day,which means that the role of translation becomes more important than before.However,Chinese and western countries are different in social background and cultural psychology,and they are also different in thinking mode.So Chinese and English have so many differences.In terms of voice,Chinese is accustomed to use active voice,but in English,passive voice is frequently used in order to focus on the truth and the objective situation,or for the courtesy and other reasons,especially in scientific discourse and journalistic discourse.Therefore,it is of profound significance and value to study passive voice.This paper illustrates three aspects of pragmatic analysis of passive voice,meanwhile,sums up its five strategies of translation by means of combining a large number of examples under the guidance of the translation theory “faithfulness,expressiveness and suitableness”,which is put forward by Mr.Liu Zhongde.
