Abstract: This thesis does research on the metaphor-loaded dish names and their translation not only for a theoretical breakthrough, but for readers accessing deeper understanding and more specific comprehension about the connotation of dish names. It focus on language features, functions and translation principles used in metaphor-loaded Chinese dish names. This thesis sums up different metaphorical naming ways of Chinese dishes and emphasizes the importance of Chinese dish name translation in catering cultural communication between China and western countries.
