摘要:中英文中有很多有关动物的表达或习语。一些字面意义相同的动物词语有着相同的蕴含意义，而有些相同的动物词蕴含意义却不同。有意思的是，有时不同的动物词却能表达相同的蕴含意义。此外，某种语言里的动物词在另一种语言里可能找不到与之对应的文化意义。本论文分别就这些差异进行详细的举例阐述，并从宗教，历史，习俗以及地理环境四个方面挖掘产生这些差异的文化内因。由于中英动物词的差异性影响了跨文化交际，本文还就如何使人们更好地理解动物词提出了一些建议。
