Abstract: By comprehensively analyzing the stylistic features of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s two most famous political speeches, the thesis aims to find out how Roosevelt succeeded in delivering wonderful addresses, thus helping readers with English learning and the acquisition of public speaking skills. Some methods are adopted in the research like textual analysis, comparison, qualitative and quantitative analysis, etc. The results show that Roosevelt uses a lot of devices like alliteration, consonance, simile, metaphor and parallelism to create effectiveness and vividness. Besides, concrete words and first personal pronouns are used to shorten the distance between him and the audiences. Declarative sentences at middle length also persuasively and expressively convey the main information. Therefore, Roosevelt’s speeches are worth learning by us.
