Abstract: The film Forrest Gump adapted from Winston Groom’s novel with the same name tells the story of a stupid boy Forrest Gump who makes unremitting efforts to improve himself and ultimately creates a miracle in a number of fields. This study aims to present the change and development of people’s values and the confusion in people’s spiritual life and show people’s strong desire and call of return to values of American culture from the perspective of literary comments through the analysis of the background, images of different characters and the different embodiment of values of American culture. It proves the truth that people can achieve success and have a happy life as long as they follow the traditional values and practice its spirit.
