Abstract
Jane Eyre, as a classic literary masterpiece in the 19th century, has been very popular among readers at home and abroad all the way. Charlotte Bronte who is a bourgeoisie realist female writer in Victorian, shows her a distinct explanation for the role of women through Jane Eyre. It shapes a characteristic heroine image with the brilliance of the humanity to fight for independence, freedom and equal status.
In addition to numerous merits of Jane, we can’t ignore the fact that there still exists some weakness in her character owing to the living environment, such as inferiority, strong dignity and so on. There are some reasons for the formation of multiple characters including the background of society and the writer. So this thesis will further analyze Jane Eyre's character from the aspects of its formation, advantage, disadvantage and influence on the basis of predecessors' research which have analyzed diversity sides of Jane Eyre.
