Abstract
This paper mainly focuses on the differences between Chinese and Western culture, which is based on the present research of education and culture. The paper contains causes of the differences, forms of the differences, applications to students’ language communicative ability and English teaching. The causes are divided into two parts – subjective causes and objective causes. There exist 2 causes of subjective causes. They are thought patterns and social behaviors. Also, cultural origins, economic systems, geographical Environments and religions are objective causes. I rethink the mutual learning of Chinese and western religions. Main forms of the differences contains five parts - view of value, view of morality, view of time, view of privacy and view of democracy, which prove the necessity and importance of the cultural differences and reflect the permeation and promotion of the differences in English teaching.
