Abstract:There are two ways of human communication: verbal-communication and non-verbal communication. People often only pay attention to language learning and ignore the non-verbal communication in intercultural communication. In fact, as an important auxiliary means, non-verbal communication expresses important information in the process of communication and it is also a necessary way to repeat, alter, or regulate. With the social and economic development, the communication of human is getting more and more frequent. Intercultural communication activities are becoming increasingly important. Nowadays, non-verbal communication in human communication is becoming more and more obvious. However, due to the cultural differences between China and many western countries the non-verbal communication behavior is also different. Non-verbal communication behavior in different cultures has different meaning. So, in the process of intercultural communication, the misunderstanding of non-verbal communication can make the human communication not be carried out smoothly or cause unpleasant and conflicts from time to time. Therefore, the study of intercultural non-verbal cultural differences is the requirements of the development of the times. It is also one of the cultural trends of the times. It is of great significance to promote the smooth progress of intercultural communication. On the basis of the analysis of the concept of non-verbal communication in intercultural communication, this paper explores the cultural differences between China and the United States in intercultural non-verbal communication, and puts forward the strategies of it.
