Abstract: As one of the Chinese classical masterpieces, Hong Lou Meng, undoubtedly, reaches the pinnacle in the development of Chinese Zhang Hui novels. Its language, content and form of expression have a strong Chinese classical color. Besides, they carry an extensive and profound Chinese culture. The chapter title of Hong Lou Meng is a major characteristic of the whole work, not only for conveying information and arousing readers’ interest, but also embodying the cultural connotation. In this paper, two different versions of the Yang’s and Hawkes’ will be comparatively analyzed from the perspective of domestication and foreignization in the chapter titles of Hong Lou Meng.
