Abstract: The paper aims to discuss the Gothic elements in Wuthering Heights to appreciate the charm of the novel. The paper first introduces Emily Bronte, her Gothic complex and the novel Wuthering Heights. Then it analyzes the Gothic elements in Wuthering Heights from four aspects: the origin of the Gothic novels, Gothic elements, Gothic theme, as well as Gothic characters and Gothic environmental description. The paper also discusses the innovations and breakthroughs made by the author in the novel, which has made the traditional literary genre of the Gothic novel full of new vigor and vitality. Finally the paper draws the conclusion that interpretation of the employment of Gothic Elements in Wuthering Heights is of great significance.
