Abstract
The story Hua Mulan has been adapted to movies by China and America. The different adaptations reflect different cultural values of the two countries. By comparing the dialogues of the Disney cartoon Mulan and the Chinese film Mulan, from five respects which are individualism and collectivism, ideologism and open-mindedness, power distance, social hierarchy, and feminism, find the differences between China and America in cultural values are intended to be found. According to these differences, some enlightenment to inherit and carry forward Chinese culture is put forward. It not only benefits to promote intercultural communication between China and America, but also contributes to inherit and carry forward Chinese culture.
