ABSTRACT: Frances Hodgson Burnett is a female writer of children’s literature in the twentieth century. As one of her famous novels, A Little Princess tells a story about wealth, class and attitude towards life. In this novel, the frequent references to Sara’s imagination and magic make it hard to find the realistic elements. But the author of this paper tries to explore the realism through stating its setting, expounding class conflict and analyzing humanity in order to reveal the social darkness and people’s apathy.
