Abstract: Taboo refers to “an inhibition or ban resulting from social custom or emotional aversion”.These taboos include religious taboos,color taboos, number taboos,title taboos etc.Taboo words,especially the number taboos, play a vital role in our daily communication.Based on many experts,this thesis analyzes taboo words in different cultures and focuses on the taboo words on numbers between Chinese and English.The purpose is to bring convenience to our daily communication.

摘要：禁忌指的是“被禁止或忌讳的言行”。它包括宗教禁忌、颜色禁忌、数字禁忌、称谓禁忌等。禁忌语尤其是数字禁忌在人们日常生活中起着不可或缺的作用。本文以前人在对不同文化背景下的禁忌语研究为支撑，着重对汉英数字禁忌进行研究，旨在为日常交流带来便利。
