内容摘要：《桃花扇》中，“伟人欲扶世祚，而权不在己；宵人能覆鼎餗，而溺于宴安；扼腕时艰者，徒属之席帽青鞋之士；时露热血者，或反在优伶口技之中。”无论是爱国忠臣史可法、狡诈奸臣马士英、魏阉余孽阮大铖、扼腕时艰的复社四公子，还是侠肝义胆的艺人柳敬亭和苏昆生，不论他们处在社会的上层还是下层，都在历史的漩涡中徘徊沉浮，个体的价值和理想与南明王朝覆亡的现实相碰撞，并以破灭而告终。《桃花扇》因此传达出深深的幻灭感。
