在明代一度走红的《琵琶记》，其戏剧的主角赵五娘从古至今备受世人称颂。赵五娘的悲惨命运，令人扼腕叹息，心痛不已；她的形象，却发出熠熠光芒，源远而流长；她的美德，更是中国广大妇女学习的榜样，前进的灯塔。本文将从赵五娘所处时代的社会风尚入手，挖掘出影响赵五娘形象发展的多维原因，主要包含社会因素和作者因素，并借此总结出赵五娘美德的表现方面，分别是尽职尽责替夫行孝；克己利人牺牲自我；娴静自守坚定信念；倔强不屈坚忍能耐。然后结合现代婚姻所面临的问题，从中推阐出对现代婚姻的几点启发：用宽容之心对待婚姻；用孝敬之心对待长辈；用恩爱之心对待配偶。
