摘要:《嘎达梅林》是蒙古族的一篇优秀叙事长诗，在蒙古族文学中具有十分重要的地位，同时也是中国文学的不可或缺的一部分。《嘎达梅林》是根据真人真事来进行创作，具有很强的真实性与可读性。作品中的历史事件发生在上世纪20年代末30年代初，那时的中国的社会背景是军阀割据，各自为政；列强入侵，国家四分五裂，那是一个动荡不安的年代，亦是一个战乱纷飞的年代。
美丽的科尔沁大草原上居住着一群善良的农牧民，他们世世代代都是以这片草原为家，但是达尔罕王爷却不顾农牧民的反对，勾结大军阀张作霖，私自出售草原，对草原上的广大农牧民进行残酷的剥削压迫，遭受了巨大的灾难。嘎达作为王府卫队的梅林，为了农牧民冒死直言相谏，却被革去职务赶出王府，后又关进大牢，判为死罪。好在嘎达梅林的妻子牡丹机智勇敢，联合一帮乡里乡亲设计就出嘎达梅林。躲过一劫的嘎达梅林毅然起义，带领被王爷压迫的广大农牧民勇敢地同王爷的卫队和军阀的军队展开了殊死搏斗。但是非常遗憾的是，由于军事力量对比悬殊，这次农牧民起义仍以失败告终。
《嘎达梅林》是一首蒙古族英雄史诗，它歌颂了嘎达梅林以及广大农牧民反封建，反压迫的革命精神，是一曲悲壮的英雄赞歌，更是一部反映人民不屈不挠斗争精神的画卷。
