[摘要] 中国古代很少有以儿童为生命个体专门为儿童欣赏而创作的儿童文学,没有独立的价值可言。随着五四时期的觉醒,先进的知识分子开始关注属于儿童的文学作品。儿童文学因此顺时而生,并由此蓬勃形成一股创作儿童文学的潮流。五四时期成长起来的作家大多数从事过儿童文学的创作, 叶圣陶可以说是中国现代童话的开拓者,他的童话集《稻草人》在中国童话发展史中具有不可磨灭的开创地位。同一时代的丰子恺也本着儿童精神的坚守,创作出一系列的童话作品。他们虽为同时代的童话作家,但拥有了不同的儿童的视角,各以自己独到的特色,在儿童文学的艺术之廊中竖起了醒目的丰碑。
